Earliest PS2 build of Bionicle 2: City of Legends found!

Recently, I managed to secure another PS2 build of Bionicle 2: City of Legends. This is the third PS2 build of the game I have received, and it is particularly special. This build is from a former Argonaut Games developer, and it is the earliest build of the game known to exist. Compared to the other City of Legends builds, this one is vastly different. This build contains two different levels, and both are in a very early state. This build also has scrapped gameplay elements which are not present in any of the other builds. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this build is that Matau’s model closely resembles the art in the pitch document I received back in April!

You can download this build from the retail games page, or this link.

Gameplay can be found here.

Some Reorganization for Promo CDs

Promo CDs
LEGO BIONICLE (GBA)

Nothing new in this update, but the Promo CDs page has been updated to change up the navigation a bit. It seems we also had a couple of dupe copies in our archive when it came to variations of the original BIONICLE Promo CD (aka the Toa Mata disc), so those have been pulled and the four variations are now more clearly labelled.

Over in Games, the download for the 2001 GBA game was accidentally labelled as a NA release (U), when it was in fact a European copy (E). That’s been fixed, and a true (U) version has been added as well!

Early PS2 Demo for BIONICLE Heroes

BIONICLE Heroes PS2 Demo

Brendan Smith has already located a lot of Bionicle TV ads – today they bring us a demo for Bionicle Heroes they located on a PS2 demo disc! This is earlier than the PC demos, making it the oldest look at the game we have yet. Hexadecimal Mantis has separated the demo from the rest of the disc, so you can download it as its own thing to run in PCSX2. Make sure you set it to fast boot instead of full or the BIOS gets confused.

Also on the disc is the Gamescom 06 trailer for Heroes in better quality than we’d had in our archive – so that has been updated as well! And this got Vahkiti looking at other demo discs, so on top of all that the E3 trailer for the game (previously just labelled ‘trailer 1’ in our archive) is now much better quality too.
