Bionicle: Quest of the Toa was a fan film project by Jonathan Kaplan (aka Lewa11) that set out to depict the events of the 2001 story from the perspective of the Toa. Two distinct iterations rose and fell: one lasted from 2005 to 2007, and the second ran from 2009 to 2010. While neither effort resulted in a finished film, Kaplan produced a number of well-loved shorts and music tracks in relation to the project, which stand up on their own even without a complete film to complement them.
