Forum Contributors Added

I have added in all the contributors to the BioMedia Project forum as listed on the credits page that I could find as registered members of the site to the Contributor forum usergroup.  If you have contributed content to us that we have used and you have proof(correspondence, screenshots, etc), and I have not added you to the usergroup yet, then contact me on the forum and I will add you to the group.

BioMedia Project Forum Launch

We’re happy to announce that our forums are now ready!  We have been working on the forums since May.  Here are the things you’ll need to know to start using the forum:

  • JMMB has transferred our existing user account base into the forum for us.  You’ll have to logout and back in to the BioMedia Project site before you’ll be able to login to the forum.
  • If you are a new member to the site, you’ll have to make an account on the site, upon which your account will be added to the forums.
  • Please read the forum rules before starting to use the forum.  The BIONICLE Websites and Community forum and the Off-Topic forum also have separate rules topics.  The BioMedia Project subforum also has information on the forum usergroups and joining the staff if you’re interested.
  • We have an MChat chatbox located above the forum.  Please read the chatbox rules before use by clicking the mChat Rules button.  Users are free to use the chatbox to chat about forum topics while on the forum page.  The chatbox is subject to the same rules as the forum.  The chatbox is where we will be having our weekly 7PM GMT saturday staff meetings.
  • Let us know if you find any problems while using the forum, we’ll do our best to solve them.

We intend for the forum to be an important part of the site, and it will be monitored in order to provide a positive forum experience.  We’ll see you in the forums!

Purpose of our Upcoming Forum

I’d like to take a moment to reiterate the purposes of our upcoming forum.

1. To provide an extended place of discussion of BIONICLE media.

2. To provide a place of discussion for BIONICLE when BZPower is offline.

3. To provide a place of discussion of BIONICLE with rules that we find agreeable.

We consider the upcoming forum to be an important part of our website, not something we added simply to say we have it.

Check out our new Streaming Music Player!

We’ve installed our new streaming music player, check out the music page to use it.  It will pop up in a small window, and it stays on the page, audio still playing as you browse the site.   The repeat and shuffle buttons repeat and shuffle the playlist.  It’s not Youtube, but I challenge you to find a site that has more streaming BIONICLE music in one place.

BioMedia Project Forum Moderator Applications

We will be opening our forums soon, and we will need forum staff.  We will offer modship to exemplary members of course, but since moderation is an active task, we would like to open for applications.

What we’re looking for in moderators:

1. Good Communication Skills

Good communication skills include decent spelling and grammar, the ability to clearly communicate what you mean to say, and the ability to maintain a favorable public image.  It’s not a popularity contest, but the public’s perception of you and your typical behavior is often indicative of your social and communication skills.

2. The Application of our Forum Rules

We would like our moderators and administrators to apply the forum rules as they are written in order to provide a consistent user experience.  There will be times when you might choose to go against our rules, and we will of course allow you to make those decisions, but these instances should remain an exception rather than the norm.  Be able to justify your decisions.

3. The Use of Good Judgement

In all aspects of moderation, we would like moderators to use good judgement skills.  There will be times where you might need to make decisions that lie outside the defined rules.

4. Respect towards all users

Our wish is to maintain a friendly atmosphere in our forums, not one where the users are in constant fear of punishment.  Moderators should not act threatening, condescending, intimidating, or annoyed.  If moderation and dealing with new users is annoying to you, you shouldn’t be moderating.  You should come off as a friendly person.  We are looking for those with the ability to apply moderation while still being friendly.

Moderator Requirements

  • Check the staff googledoc at least once per week.
  • Forum Moderators: Moderate your forum(s) on an almost daily basis.

1. What position are you applying for?
