For the glyphs, I say just keep the texture but cut off the square corners
Ie: just keep everything inside the first gray ring on the outside of the texture.
That's how the game maps it anyways IIRC

"The Rohan" is a three story museum. The first consists of identical before and after screenshots of the map from 2011 and now, mirrored down the center of the room. The second is devoted entirely to memes and inside jokes with a very tall Polnareff hair going through the ceiling to the third floor, which consists of screenshots of our adventures and relics that we've collected or created.

we're still gonna re-do our color change for the tree spider quest item or whatever, right? (edited)
it was green or something in vanilla
we changed it to blue to fix some inconsistencies
but it's currently just some random shade of blue
we were gonna re-do that so it's a normal, proper lego blue color, same as the bug quest item etc
if we're doing renders for the manual or whatever, we should do that first

so we made it blue
except we just made it an arbitrary shade of blue lol
so we were gonna make it proper blue... whenever we got around to it
currently it's some color that doesn't fit in the existing 2001 lego colors at all (edited)
it should theoretically match the bug or something like that
it was a reeaaally early fix

Well Benji, JMMB, and James seem to be doing their usual things, Ash has seemingly isolated herself into Warframe, Walker has gone missing entirely, and I've been doing the same as Ash up until today with Minecraft until I just randomly got the urge a few days ago to try and kick things back into gear. So we're all trying to plough through this best we can lol. Yes I've been trying to be creative. Really been working writing my own music, that comes with a lot of insecurities and one hour session is exhausting and I don't wanna be creative for a couple days lol. Pages just got updated with the native ability to have page backgrounds so my job is about to get even easier. I don't really need any help but if you'd like you can help me color coordinate the sections so I can get on to making the text boxes and backgrounds. I've been sleeping 12 hours and awake for the other half. I'm up til 7 am so I'll probably get to working around 3. My brother and I have been playing VR and games together in the evening.

Ah good. that's an easy but functional image editor.
Before I started school and began using Photoshop, I used PDN for everything.
It has its flaws and limits, but it gets the job done. Especially with its robust plugin system.
Even now I use it more than I use Photoshop solely because it's a lot more lightweight and doesn't take like ten minutes to open. :p
Unless I have a job that REQUIRES photoshop's ludicrous array of tools, I still always default to PDN
Speaking of, I may use that for the Rahi spread
Cause Peri seems to think I was thinking of a catalogue or comic image
But if it was an 01 catalogue, we have the style guide to rebuild that

Even spacing on all sides of the logo plus the Toa relative to the bottom of the image
Also I noticed the logo is slightly different between the box and your jewel case

its finicky. Most good upscales are half AI half human input to really make it the best it can be
just takes the load off
what garners the best results is mixing different methods, when it comes to video anyway
looking more closely at waifus upscale honestly its pretty on par. its slightly better but it really blurs it. Look at onua its almost like the blacks are crushed leaving very little detail.

in terms of upscale if we dont like any method whats great about ESRGAN is we can train it with bonk stuff to make a personal model to upscale this content with
idk if you have seen the reuped upscaled video of all the bonk trailers on youtube. Those are gross and not really well done unfortunately. Once I hit a rut I was going to go through and do my own versions to better preserve them because ive seen some other channels use those videos and it makes me sad

Chances are it's probably an error with python's path. I would try dragging datagan.py onto the python exe
That's how I got it working.
I have python 2 installed for LOMNTool, and historically my PC doesn't like having both python versions on the path, even if they have different names.

It has a ton more artifacting than waifu's output, which is especially noticeable on the other masks. The ridges on the Pakari are all garbled, and Lewa's eyes are bleeding into his mask.

yea topaz is never good with artifacting. Waifu has a tendency to kinda blur everything making it look clean but lose detail in the process, topaz tries to increase detail but ends up artifacting in the process. theres an option to adjust that ill send some tests

They eyes are a bit too angular at the inner edge. Even the MNOG Hau had rounded edges at the inner eye, but the LoMN Hau has a pointed inner edge. I'm thinking of keeping that on the Makuta Hau since it differentiates it, and looks more menacing, but on the Toa, and Matoran Hau, I'm planning to fix that.

The texture filtering
It applies an algorithm that kind of mushes the texture. I'm not math man but it makes pixels less distinct
I really wanna see this game without it. But it looks like it always had it. Liam sent a photo of an early controls screen and the textures look like they're being filtered even at low res

iirc the guy who did that very LI2 box art/CD art also did 3D art for a bunch of books that included a canceled(?) bionicle book
and then the art for that got reused elsewhere

I think its important to retain the original style as best as possible, and I have been making sure thats the case with what I have created. Even against some of the wishes of Liam lol. Some things need some tweaking and I think the lighting can be adjusted
that and the bump maps certainly. Ill test some more dust and then take a peak at the bump maps

Can't do much figuring those drives had all my project files so I will have to see if they're recoverable. If not once I get my surface from my gf after next weekend I'll be able to get back to it

Basically an HD version of the original, preferably with both 4:3 and widescreen options.
The original screen is from the alpha, so right away there will be mechanics missing
Even disregarding Rebuilt specific stuff.
(Eg: the new air meter)
Btw, if you feel like making new HD hud elements for those while you're at it, by all means

For the Mata head and bars you could probably just do an orthographic render from Stud.io
(Assuming Stud.io can do orthographic anyways, otherwise we'll just export the models I guess)

Actually to that end, the masks render a lot nicer in Stud.io than they do in Maya with their topology issues.
@Aurora Are you free? I have questions about Stud.io and the mask packs you currently use.
If we can replicate the look of the LOMN hud within Stud.io and render out animation frames from there, it would probably look a lot better than my attempts with Maya
Something about Stud.io's renderer just has a knack for hiding bad topology that I can't quite replicate in Maya

That's probably WHY Stud.io renders look so good actually.

99% of bug reports and video content I see are all Rebuilt now
That's not to say Rebuilt has more bugs, just more people are playing it.

Well by nature Rebuilt and Beta have to be on equal terms for stability since one is based off the other, though Rebuilt definitely has its own issues that crop up just from the extra things we do with it that the game was never designed to do.
As far as content goes, Rebuilt definitely has better content, but only really by comparison. A massive chunk of Rebuilt's content was inspired by, or directly lifted from the alpha, and if that build had never been released, Rebuilt probably wouldn't exist.

Andrew Malta in Maskposting has been making a bunch of 0 styled Rahi, and has since started rendering out manuals. Suffice to say, they look VERY close to the 01 manual style. eyes_shaking

He responded. Went to bed before I could really explain who we are since he doesn't already know, but he does seem interested in hearing more.
He's already built some of the LOMN Rahi in his own time, so he'll likely end up making these anyways
Though I will say, aside from the actual posing and building, the actual image itself doesn't seem hard to make.
@Aurora could give me more information, but I THINK it's just using a custom shader for Stud.io.
And then the background and part list are added later.

It's been a while since I fiddled with that any but I'll gladly work on it after work today.
The last time I worked on it I was having trouble finding a place to mount the tentacles where they can actually hit a Toa figure and don't get in the way of the limbs so I'm still trying to figure that out... (edited)

Well a lot of the Rahi in this game aren't even canon since it was never released, but ye, I could arrange that. 🙂
These models are from the alpha, so they haven't really been updated or anything, and they aren't rigged either, but they should do for determining their build all the same.
Obviously btw we don't need instructions for the ones that were released as sets in 01 like the Nui Rama or the Manas, aha.
A lot of them are pretty simple too, like the MNOG fish.

The game by default includes the magazine scan of the Fikou instructions as a placeholder, so I'm not opposed to including it, and the other Rahi that would later be put into Master Builder
Since it seems like they were originally supposed to be given instructions here

I did put a Krana holder on the head because it fills the void between the Technic pieces perfectly!!!
Also, that's what my instructions look like, my styling includes the background color in the same color family as the model, but I can make them more consistant with 01

On break at work. There are 6 slots on the print menu currently used for the Fikou instructions @V A H K I T I
But even then we need more slots for other art that is unused otherwise so we'll need more space for printing regardless

@V A H K I T I Right now I'm just going hog wild attaching the tentacles to different parts of Makuta and seeing what happens. Trying to get an action feature with a good motion to it.
I haven't had any major breakthroughs yet but I did unwittingly engineer a Makuta that hits himself on the head and demasks himself and I thought it was pretty hilarious. Very "Boneheads of Voodoo Island"

I feel like the bear hug feature might have some potential, but I don't think the slizer gearbox can really handle that kind of girth. Maybe rig it so he can give kind of a left hook right hook kinda thing?
I had a "blooper" of sorts filming it where one of the tentacles popped out the gearbox and I thought it could probably look kinda cool if executed right

Well if you want to give it a shot, I made mine using testors brand enamel paint. Primarily the orange but I mixed in some small amounts of black, red, and yellow til it matched the infected hau
