20 Year Old Previously Undiscovered Easter Egg Found in MNOG During Speedrun

Well just when you think there’s nothing left to be found in a game, you get surprises like this. Speedrunner Derek_MK on Twitch has found a previously unseen easter egg in the Le-Koro cutscene of MNOG!

According to Derek, “It looks like there is a 1/100 chance for all the matoran to hold up scorecards (either they all hold them up or they all don’t). It also rolls a 1/2 chance for each scorecard to either be a 0 or a 1.”

Quite a discovery indeed. You can watch the clip here, and maybe give the streamer some love while you’re there! :)

Update: It can be triggered manually!

Turns out there are three buttons in the scene, where if you click the three masks in order from right to left, you will trigger the Easter Egg.

This is a little bit easier than playing the animation ~50-100 times to see it by chance.

BMP YouTube is Growing

Vahkiti has begun the process of providing a mirror of our Bionicle video archive on the BioMedia Project YouTube. Since direct linking to the videos hosted on our server can be cumbersome, we hope this will make accessing and finding the things you are looking for a simpler task! And you can still always come here to bypass the YouTube compression algorithms get the vids in their original quality. Stay tuned as uploads continue over the coming weeks – hit the “subscribe” button even, as we “You Tubers” like to say.

Toa Terrain Crawler Commercial

2007 Playset Commercial

Uploaded by Captain B. Z’s VHS Archive in a larger commercial break collection last year, this ad was spotted by Louis 157, who provided a standalone upload. Thanks Louis! I had no idea this one existed… its in the archive now, though!

A minor correction to the last update as well: I neglected to mention Wynn Martin provided the scans of the Bohrok Awake booklet. They’re much appreciated! That news post has been updated to reflect her contributions.

2008 History Booklet and More

Bionicle History
LEGO Bionicle Magazine:  Issue 1  |  Issue 2
The Coming of the Bohrok

N once again brings us a few more items for the archive! Some excellent scans of the Bionicle History booklet that was distributed in a few regions in 2008, plus the two issues of the G2 Bionicle magzine, both in Russian. The booklet has some of the clearest images available of the seldom used 2005 “movie still” style renders! N also provided scans of the content that cropped up in the Russian editions of the comics, but not the US ones we have hosted already. These images are integrated into the comics downloads now – there’s some stuff for both 2005 and 2009. Did you know in Russia, you could send images of Rahaga Bomonga to your friends over SMS?

We’ve also now got the story booklet for the Bohrok Swarm TCG, “The Coming of the Bohrok” – courtesy of Wynn Martin! The “Legend of Mata Nui” booklet that came with Quest for the Masks will also be added once we have direct scans, but for now you can always reference ivanproff’s fantastic digital recreation.

Hidden Side Paranormal Intercept Bus 3000 Live Build

A little over a week ago, Vahkiti brought us a live build of LEGO set 70423 Paranormal Intercept Bus 3000, from the Hidden Side line. The model is known among Bionicle fans for including this decal depicting Onua in The Legend of Mata Nui PC game – something very significant to us at BMP!

You can watch the replay above if you missed the stream when it was live. Thanks to LEGO for providing us with this set!

The Saga of Takanuva! Back Pages

Goodly88 on reddit brings us photos of the exclusive content in The Saga of Takanuva!, a graphic novel published by DC and given out at Toys R Us stores in the UK in 2003. Included are an expanded version of the LEGO Magazine interview about Bionicle: The Game, and a totally unique two-page spread showing Randy Elliot’s drafts for the cover of comic 14. Check it out!

The PDF is on the Graphic Novels page in the Comics section now, and PDF and JPG versions are in their respective downloads.

2009 Sampler and Style Guide, Misc Videos

BIONICLE Glatorian Legends Content Sampler  –  ISO | Content
2009 Style Guide

The stars have aligned in favor of 2009 this week! Foulowe 59 brings us a rare Glatorian Legends Content Sampler – a CD-ROM full of a bunch of footage from The Legend Reborn DVD. And on top of that, we’ve anonymously received a complete copy of the 2009 Style Guide!

We’ve also brought the Videos archive up-to-date once again with a few new discoveries, and some old things I realized I had squirreled away. Of special interest are the GameHut video showcasing a Bionicle Heroes prototype, and the recording of the G2 launch panel at NYCC. Foulowe 59 also provided us with another trailer for Bionicle the Game, off of an old GCN promo disc! They sure made a lot of those trailers…
