20 Year Old Previously Undiscovered Easter Egg Found in MNOG During Speedrun

Well just when you think there’s nothing left to be found in a game, you get surprises like this. Speedrunner Derek_MK on Twitch has found a previously unseen easter egg in the Le-Koro cutscene of MNOG!

According to Derek, “It looks like there is a 1/100 chance for all the matoran to hold up scorecards (either they all hold them up or they all don’t). It also rolls a 1/2 chance for each scorecard to either be a 0 or a 1.”

Quite a discovery indeed. You can watch the clip here, and maybe give the streamer some love while you’re there! :)

Update: It can be triggered manually!

Turns out there are three buttons in the scene, where if you click the three masks in order from right to left, you will trigger the Easter Egg.

This is a little bit easier than playing the animation ~50-100 times to see it by chance.

Pitch document and yet another PS2 build of Bionicle 2: City of Legends!

Back in June of 2019, I managed to get a hold of a PS2 build of the cancelled sequel to Bionicle: The Game, known as Bionicle 2: City of Legends. Prior to 2019, the only build of this cancelled sequel available was for the original Xbox.  Now, in April 2020, I received another PS2 build of the game, and a previously unseen pitch document from a source that wishes to remain anonymous. This PS2 build is slightly newer than the one I recovered in 2019, and closely resembles the original Xbox build. Like the PS2 build I received in 2019, this build also has working audio, and all of the graphical effects missing in the Xbox build.

The pitch document I received contains a fair amount of concept art, as well as multiple planned gameplay elements! It’s quite an interesting read.

You can download this new build from the retail games page, or this link.

Now You Can Watch the Jams

The organizer of the 2001/02 Bionicle live events at Legoland CA, PRP, has uploaded edited videos of the performances. They are now on the More videos page, under the new Live Performances heading. These are a trip, so have fun.

Additionally, as a follow-up to the Nestle news, Illuminatus has provided his original rip of the Mini Warriors commercial, sans subtitles. It has now been added as well to the 2006 commercials collection.

Legends of Metru Nui Storyboards

Contributors N and The Shadow Emperor, with a bit of my help, have trawled the various eBay listings of Legends of Metru Nui storyboards to provide an organized download of all that we could find. While this will be integrated into a future update to the Pictures section, you can download it now! Enjoy the many very animated expressions within.

Cancelled City of Legends Game Demo – Now on PS2!

Hexadecimal Mantis has been doing amazing work behind the scenes researching the development of Bionicle: The Game and its cancelled sequel, City of Legends – and now his research has procured a PS2 build of the latter’s movement demo! Unlike the Xbox build, this one features working sound, among a few other miscellaneous bells and whistles. You can download the PS2 build directly from this link, or on the retail games page. Hex has learned a LOT beyond this as well – take a look at his full post for all the info.

Video Games!

Do you like video games? Do you like Bionicle? Have we got some news for you.

It finally happened! The BioMedia Project now hosts the full assortment of Bionicle video games. The new stuff is over at Retail Games – stuff like Bionicle: The Game, Bionicle Heroes, and Maze of Shadows. The Legend of Mata Nui has found its home there as well!

– moved fan games to Fan section

The Sound of Updates

We’ve got a few small updates to the music archive for you today. We’re calling it version 2.2.1 – that’s a whole .1 up from the last version! What all does it entail?

  • Legend of Mata Nui soundtrack updated by Litestone with new track names and the addition of Bionicle Age and Obey the Force, the tracks they have used for update trailers.
  • Sound Effects download package updated with sounds from the demo for City of Legends, the unreleased Bionicle: The Game sequel. These are courtesy of Hexadecimal Mantis!

Happy listening.
